12/07/2020 - Comments: My students conducted a field study today about plastic pollution. The students went on a schoolyard scavenger hunt and chose 4 different types of small pollution pieces. Then they placed the pieces of trash in a beaker with freshwater. They documented how many pieces floated, sank, or stayed in the middle. Next, they added salt to the fresh water and documented how the plastic pieces sank to the bottom. They formed a conclusion that this why plastics/microplastics are extremely hard to extract from our oceans.
DETAILS11/17/2020 - Comments: As of 11/17/2020...our students are researching, collaborating, and examining plastic pollution through watershed activities, case studies, their own plastic use. We will filter our own tap water for plastics in January 2021.
DETAILS11/17/2020 - Comments: Thank you for the information. Yes, we have a dynamic IP address. I have noticed the WB address works best before 1pm central time. The students checking their username and pw also helps with logging into the website easier.
DETAILS11/17/2020 - Comments: I like the idea of abstraction...For my 6th graders, I feel this will help them when they write research papers with abstracts, "chunking" extra information, etc...and it also helps them to develop SMART questions easier.
